Flavor of the week

There's just something nostalgic about a bowl of cereal.

Even the thought of it reminds me of a slow Saturday morning when I was a kid.

And one of my favorite cereal growing up was fruity pebbles.

The fruity flavor, the crunch, the way it all combined with the milk…

I love it.

So I decided to turn a bowl of fruity pebbles into a Ninja Creami pint.

This one is for all of my candy lovers.

Last week I tried SmartSweets.

They make traditional candy flavors but keep it low sugar (92% less than normal).

You know I don't hold back if I don't like something…

But to be honest, I've tried 10 different flavors and they're all great.

So if you love candy, but want to cut sugar, you should check them out.

In the Lab

Mix-ins are on the mind this week.

At this point, crazy to say, I've made about 1,000 pints in the Creami.

I'm always looking for new ways to switch it up and add some variety.

And one of my favorite ways to do this is by tossing in different mix-ins and seeing how it goes.

Because I focus on low calorie and high protein recipes, this can get tricky.

So I'm always experimenting with what can add some texture and flavor without adding a ton of calories and sugar.

And recently, I found a new favorite…

Cereal.

The right cereal checks all the boxes:

  • Actually tastes great in ice cream
  • Adds real crunch (not soggy flakes)
  • Doesn't blow up calories or sugar

And cereal holds up surprisingly well with the Ninja Creami mix-in setting.

You might've seen the recipe I made with fruity pebbles recently.

It was incredible.

After that, Pebbles sent me some of their Cinnamon Pebbles to try out.

I mixed them into my cinnamon base and, I'm not kidding, it was a top 5 pint of all time.
