Flavor of the week

I'm starting something new…

The Summer Sorbet Series.

I'm turning your favorite fruit into healthy Creami sorbet.

And I kicked it off with mango sorbet.

One thing people don't realize: you can technically make sorbet in the Ninja Creami with just one ingredient.

But I don't recommend it.

When you freeze fruit, the sweetness gets diluted.

A lot.

So I always add extra sweetener, a pinch of salt, and a tiny bit of xanthan gum.

That last one sounds random but it makes a huge difference.

It smooths out the texture and makes it feel almost like a sherbet.

No dairy needed.

What fruit I should do next?

Rapid Reviews

This week I tried Frozen One protein ice cream.

I only got two of their flavors: Dutch Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chip.

The Chocolate was good. Honestly the best pure chocolate protein ice cream I've had.

Tasted like frozen chocolate mousse.

But I'd rather have the Peanut Butter Chip 10 out of 10 times.

Natural peanut flavor, loaded with chocolate chips, and the texture was way closer to real ice cream than most of the other brands I've tested.

Fonzian, a big influencer I've been following for while, actually co-founded Frozen One.

I like Fonzian, but there are a lot of influencer-backed brands that have great marketing and don't have the product to back up the hype.

So I came in planning to be more critical with my review…

But this one actually delivered.

The Verdict:

Peanut butter chip - 9.1/10

Chocolate - 8.4/10

Find it.

In the Lab

Strawberry topping is one of the most popular ice cream toppings ever made.

And the store bought version is loaded with junk.

High fructose corn syrup. Red 40. Sugar.

All the stuff we're trying to avoid.

So I made my own.

3 ingredients. 2 (active) minutes. Tastes just as good.

Strawberries, monk fruit sweetener, and lemon juice.

Chop the strawberries, add the sweetener, and squeeze in the lemon juice. Then stir it up and throw it in the fridge.

That's it.

The best thing is the only macros come from the strawberries (which are super low calorie).

The sweetener pulls the juice out of the strawberries and turns it into syrup.

For all the science people, this process is called maceration.

The lemon juice balances the sweetness and gives it just enough tartness.

I made this for a Dairy Queen Royal NY Cheesecake Blizzard recreation.

Hollowed out the middle of the Creami pint, dropped the strawberry syrup in like the core.

It was unreal.

A full video is coming next week, but you're getting it here first.

What topping should I make low calorie next? Hot fudge? Caramel?
